Mitigate the Consequences of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Facilitate Access to Essential Services and CSE for Conflict-Affected People in Ukraine

Project was implemented under the support of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and financial support of the Government of Japan during January — June 2024.

Project goals

To improve access and quality of essential sexual and reproductive health and sexual and gender based violence services (SGBV), as well as comprehensive sexual education (CSE) for the conflict affected people in Ukraine, among them:

𒊹 strengthening the capacity of healthcare facilities and healthcare workers to provide comprehensive medical care to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, as well as emergency obstetric and neonatal care

𒊹 increasing access to sexual and reproductive health referral services (including for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence)

𒊹 conducting comprehensive sexuality education programms for young people

𒊹 strengthening the capacity of educational staff

Project results

  • 37.5 K women and girls received the SRH services
  • training materials on clinical management of rape (CMR) for medical staff developed based on the
  • international guidelines
  • four trainings on CMR conducted for 122 healthcare specialists
  • referral pathway for the providers of SRH services providers were developed for Poltava and Odesa regions
  • 6 partner hospitals provided with commodities: post-rape kits, emergency contraception, COVID-19 rapid tests, infection prevention and control materials
  • informational materials for the providers of SRH services(flyers, posters, leaflets, etc) developed and distributed among pilot medical facilities
  • training of Trainers (ToT) on CSE topics developed based on the international practices and recommendations
  • over 50 teachers and school psychologists trained on comprehensive sexual education
  • 70 offline events for adolescents took place, almost 1 000 participants trained on different topics of SRH
  • set of online events in Instagram and TikTok with almost 1 mln coverage conducted by bloggers
  • informational materials and messages on SRH for teenagers developed and shared through social media, information platforms, etc
